The list of things most interesting to do this year did not include the rally for the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory celebration.

Something did not feel right about the whole thing, after watching the escapades last year.  One could blame it on a basic lack of interest in hanging out with the drunks, or the potential of being shot.

Turns out neither of those feelings were far from the truth.  The Kansas City Chiefs were as drunk as ever, along with the rest of the city, while the intellectually challenged broke out their weapons and began shooting at one another.

Can you feel the love this Valentine's Day?

This world has lost its mind.

Aside from the absurdity of brats with guns, are these the role models we really want for our children?

Hunger demanded increasing attention today, while passing along 39th Street near KU Medical Center.  Noticing a few options not previously recognized, a spot for parking on the street quickly opened its arms.   Noon found not many spots.  Tiki Taco was the spot that had actually caught attention.  It turned out to be a super friendly and delectable choice, also offering some appealing and intriguing skateboard art displays.  This may just be the best place in the area to grab a quick mouthful of deliciousness.

39 west scribe

No other image stands out along West 39th better than this amazing bit of graffiti art, instantly recognizable as one from local artist "Scribe."  Completed in 2014, it is holding up really well for 20 years old.  This huge mural is always a welcome greeting to the tiny little district that straddles the state line.  If they ever replace this, it should definitely be another piece from KC's own Scribe.

arrow pierce deflected

  Branson is quite the music and entertainment city, with some resident performances lasting more than 50 years.  Pierce Arrow has been putting on their little schtick for 25 years, promising award-winning comedy and music by "an electrifying band."  Recently, they changed venues from their old theater under the same name, to that of Reza Theater.  That is where we caught up with their act, after some friends offered up tickets. They turned out a relatively good production, for an intimate Monday afternoon gig, during Spring Break week.  Very likely, it not same performance audiences typically witness on a Saturday night during peak season.  The tour through the decades offered up some genuinely good music, performed very well, though missed a few points.  The 1980s and 1990s were entirely omitted from the agenda, and 1960s almost completely ignored the flower children. be kind kansas city

  Wandering through the Power & Light District yesterday found this relatively new mural issuing a commandment to the citizens of Kansas City.  No artist appeared credited and the artwork itself is minimal and a bit flat, thought the message is clear.  Be Kind Kansas City.  You know you want to and there are some amazing side effects, such as improved self-esteem, relationships, reduced stress and anxiety, and even a boost in physical health on numerous fronts.  More than anything, it is the right thing to do.

It is almost as if one cannot take more than a handful of steps without encountering art in Kansas City. This random encounter appears on the side of Surreal Tattoo Studio in Mid-Town near State Line.  Either I missed capturing the artists name, or it was not included.
