It was a quieter than usual evening for this particular performance.  Everyone must have been out on vacation, or afraid of the scorching temperatures.  That did not stop the troupe from dragging out the ropes, candlewax, and whips to sounds from DJs Sacrifice, FBMC, Heretic and LHP.  In addition, this particular presentation was sponsored by local erotica store Priscilla's, and I was pleased to discover the flyer featured a photograph I had taken at one of the previous performances, view more photos from this event .. As if party at the Uptown had not been enough, a lot of us headed down to Guinotte to finish the night off. A different photographer had to pick this one up though, but was lucky enough to see a surprise follow-up appearance by Green Velvet. Otherwise, the line-up featured Jenny P, Live Wire, Lucky Luciano, and Bobby D. view more photos from this event by kourtney

The moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived.  The biggest dance music event Kansas City had witnessed kicked off with a line at the door and everyone dress to impress, or dressed to rave and rave hard. Spearheaded by u:Move and local radio station, 96.5 The Buzz, the event was a massive effort of collaboration between promoters throughout the region, featuring some of the biggest names in the business. It was a night to remember, even if you were not in any capacity to remember, it was impossible to forget. Headlining the night on the main stage, included Green Velvet, Icey, Rap, with support from locals c-Vaughn, a local personality from 96.5 The Buzz, and House Music standard DJ Paul Wicked on the main stage. In other rooms throughout the Uptown, local krews from around the region set up shop to showcase the talent from their city.  Syde-show represented Topeka with their line-up of talent featuring Greg Zoi vs Suisse, Andrew Boie vs DJ Synnister, RJ Bass vs

the palladium showcase

Image
The club formerly known as Evos put together a little bit of a showcase featuring a few local DJs like Breakbotix, Tony Markham and Smooth C backing up special performances by local HipHop/Rap krewes and bands like Boy Big, Dice, Kabrawn, Brother Bagman, Rock Bottom, and many more... Tech N9ne even popped in to check out the action. One performance that really stuck out was none other than that by a young African-American girl that left the crowd cheering for more!  I wish I had caught the name of their band.  It would be good to follow-up with them. Todd took most of the photos, and Aaron helped out along the way... view photos from this event

On a last minute tip, I found myself down at the Beach Club for a new sort of event that would run for about 6 weeks, hosted by MadNights.com, judged by randomly selected folks, and local radio personality Shotgun Jackson announcing the contestants, and closing wout with a bit of dance music from local DJ Steve Thorell. view more photos from this event

fetish a go go

Image
I dropped in on The Palladium for a different sort of event, featuring local Gothic/Industrial DJs, several of which typically appear at the regular Monday night at Davey's, Evolution.  The event showcased various performances of the fetish sort, along with some fire play by Veronica the Fire Vixen and a new up-and-coming troupe of fire spinners. It was definitely a lot of fun, but only a precursor of another much larger event coming soon. view more photos from this event ... NSFW!
