We dropped in on the Missouri State Fair for a brief visit. It was a hot afternoon, and we were on our way to more refreshing destinations involving swimming at the Lake, but it was an interesting visit to an annual event that we rarely seem to find time to visit. there are no more photos from this event

  Wandering about the Apostle Islands, we ran into Bayfield Race Week 2011. Several fleets over several days battled shifting winds and Lake Superior’s unpredictable moods.  Watching from a distance, the competition was fierce and harrowing, gluing us to our stance for all of 30 seconds.  Those quiet moments did give pause remember the grace and effort of the event, knowing that crews were in full tilt, continually managing the situation.

The Vintage Motorcycle Rally landed in Kansas City with a variety of old and new bikes, spanning nearly 100 years. With nearly every style, shape, and level of horsepower represented, there were very few average every-day ordinary bikes.  Hosted at the Airline History Museum, and it rained pretty heavy the night before, but they were kind enough to pull the old Connie's out and provide some protection for the inventory, in case the storms fired up again. view more photos from this event

At the last minute, a very good friend offered the opportunity to witness this spectacular once-in-a-lifetime event, and I jumped at the chance.  Having grown up with Pink Floyd, this was a much see show that completely slipped under my radar.  Indeed, I didn't even know it was going on until she asked if I was interested in going.  It was a stellar performance, even from the nosebleed section! view more photos from this event

We made it down again this year for the annual Indian Festival at Line Creek, though we were not able to stay very long.  It was perfect timing though, as we arrived in time for one of the special dances and several of the traditional dance performances by folks from the Haskel Indian Nations University. view more photos from this event
