  Sprayed across the side of the Wash & Fold, in plain sight, is a piece that appears fading and somewhat ignored as part of the regular scenery.  The surreal circle scene displays strangely curved half-smiling lips and nose of a carved face, covered in I don't know what, perhaps tongues lapping as a couple of little corn minions lurk about.  The creator of the piece is not identified that I could find.  However, the miracle of modern technology enabled me to reach out across the interwebs and discover that it was painted by Sebastion Coolidge.  That same miracle went on to try and lie to me, telling me that it was "created during the 2018 SpraySeeMO Festival and is located on the west side of the building at 514 Southwest Boulevard." Hardly, I think.  It did lead me to SpraySeeMO  to discover it was done for 2019 festival.  Check out their site, if you have some time.  They have a lot of interesting graffiti art on display.

"The world is an amazing, beautiful place with some dark corners in need of light." is only one little pearl of wisdom quoted alongside artwork from Lisa Lala , currently on display at the University of Kansas Medical Center. A pearl within a pearl, this massive complex at the crossroads of state line and West 39th hosts more art than many are aware.  A rare opportunity to visit the space reveals works from a variety of artists on a level equitable to some of the more well-known collections in the metropolitan area. These works fill the dark corners for patients and staff with their own unique light, offering an opportunity to pause and reflect on some of the more important things in life.

  Another scene by the notorious "Scribe" lay lurking on the Genessee side of Fric & Frac, just south of 39th Street.  The usual Buzz Bee appears here, hovering over a jam box, watching the hipster watch a schoolgirl bunny watching them as she walks away.  All appeared perfectly under the dappled light from a nearby shade tree, screening out an other wise bright sunny morning.

No other image stands out along West 39th better than this amazing bit of graffiti art, instantly recognizable as one from local artist "Scribe."  Completed in 2014, it is holding up really well for 20 years old.  This huge mural is always a welcome greeting to the tiny little district that straddles the state line.  If they ever replace this, it should definitely be another piece from KC's own Scribe.

Hunger demanded increasing attention today, while passing along 39th Street near KU Medical Center.  Noticing a few options not previously recognized, a spot for parking on the street quickly opened its arms.   Noon found not many spots.  Tiki Taco was the spot that had actually caught attention.  It turned out to be a super friendly and delectable choice, also offering some appealing and intriguing skateboard art displays.  This may just be the best place in the area to grab a quick mouthful of deliciousness.

It is almost as if one cannot take more than a handful of steps without encountering art in Kansas City. This random encounter appears on the side of Surreal Tattoo Studio in Mid-Town near State Line.  Either I missed capturing the artists name, or it was not included.
