elk grove pioneer day 2023

Visiting on other business, we visited this little spot much later than expected. That 3:30 pm closing time took us by surprise. Hosting several activities for the kiddos, coupled with historical displays and discussions surrounding life in the good old days, offered a picture of life before the small town in northeastern Illionois was swallowed by the Chicago metropolitan complex.  Learn more about next year's event at the  Elk Grove Historical Museum.

graduate without water

Attending the graduation of another in the Hoffman Estates suburb of Chicago at NOW Arena was an interesting affair.  The venue was well kept and clean for the resident Windy City Bulls and other minor league teams that call it home.  The graduation itself was well done too and attended by quite a few friends and family of all those attaining new title. I remain surprised at how these places continue to refuse to allow entry of simple water though, while continuing to demand awkward and unreasonable prices to purchase the same.  $5.00 for a 12-ounce bottle is ridiculous. Of course, all water fountains were turned off.

parade nkc homecoming

Walking out the door in North Kansas City today, I stumbled into the annual Homecoming Parade.  I was just in time to catch a shot of the King and perhaps, the Queen.  I am not quite sure about that.  She was persistent in her efforts to let me know he was the King, but never really asserted her own status in the situation.   Most of the participants at this point were lagging behind and beginning to run to catch up.  They were obviously enjoying themselves though, and it proved out as few minutes of fun before having to run off to my next meeting.
