At the last minute, a very good friend offered the opportunity to witness this spectacular once-in-a-lifetime event, and I jumped at the chance. Having grown up with Pink Floyd, this was a much see show that completely slipped under my radar. Indeed, I didn't even know it was going on until she asked if I was interested in going. It was a stellar performance, even from the nosebleed section!

kc indian festival 2010
We made it down again this year for the annual Indian Festival at Line Creek, though we were not able to stay very long. It was perfect timing though, as we arrived in time for one of the special dances and several of the traditional dance performances by folks from the Haskel Indian Nations University.

bharatanatyam to bollywood
A good friend asked me to photograph the first performance of Indian classical dance Bharatanatyam, by his daughter and one of her classmates.
Years of training went into this presentation of classical and modern India dance, focusing most of their effort on Bharathanatiyam, a form of Indian classical dance that originated in the temples of Tamil Nadu.
Widely for its grace, elegance, purity, tenderness, expression and sculpturesque pose, it was a fantastic performance well received by friends and family of the girls, and I was honored to have been asked to photograph the event.
Intermingled between each of the performances, various folks described the dance and the tradition surrounding the event. It was a truly special event.

rush kc time machine tour
It was an awesome performance, as always. I have seen just about every show they have done from the beginning, and have never been disappointed in the least. Indeed, I am pretty sure that there was not a disappointed soul in this sold out show either.

willy d's little rock
While in Little Rock for a Conference, my comrades and I went in search of little entertainment. There was not much to be found for most of the week, until we stumbled on Willy D's Rock & Roll Piano Bar. It turned out to be a really wild night with some fantastic tunes being pounded out between two of the finest piano players we have seen in a long time. This is definitely a spot worth checking out again.
